Fleets Pocket Almanack for the Year of Our Lord 1788. Being Leap Year, and the Twelfth of American Independence. Calculated Chiefly for the Use of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Boston

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.
This collection reveals the history of English common law and Empire law in a vastly changing world of British expansion. Dominating the legal field is the Commentaries of the Law of England by Sir William Blackstone, which first appeared in 1765. Reference works such as almanacs and catalogues continue to educate us by revealing the day-to-day workings of society.

Entered by Evans under the publishers, Thomas and John Fleet, who are named in the 1789, 1791, and 1794-96 issues as editors of the Register. The almanac was apparently calculated by Nathanael Low. The notes ([p.4]) on eclipses, the blazing star, and the planet Venus practically duplicate those in his An astronomical diary or almanack for 1788, also published by Fleet. The calendar page calculations are also identical for the most part, with some slight variations. Advertised in the Boston gazette, Nov. 5, 1787. Error in paging: p. 69-128 misnumbered 71-130. "Additions, alterations, &c."--p. 128. Publishers' advertisement, p. [132].

Boston : Printed and sold by T. & J. Fleet, at the Bible and Heart in Cornhill, [1787]. [20],130[i.e., 128],[4]p. ; 12°
