For over three decades, Terry Wireman has specialized in the improvement of maintenance and reliability. As an international expert in maintenance management, he has assisted hundreds of clients in North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim to improve their maintenance effectiveness. Volume 5 of this series builds on the previous four volumes. One might wonder why we have waited so long to address training for maintenance organizations; however, many of the strategies discussed in the previous four volumes must be in place to provide the information necessary to develop a good training program for maintenance organizations. As will be shown in this volume, the strategies discussed previously, build the needs foundation for the training requirements.
This book discusses the current problems facing maintenance workforces and develops the process to overcome them; begins with a foundation training program that should be required for all skilled trades' personnel; looks at how to develop advanced trade specific training for each of the skilled trades; and considers how to develop equipment specific training that will enable a company to fully utilize their assets.
