James Boaden
Born into the theatre, John Philip Kemble (1757–1823) was known for his mastery of tragic Shakespearian roles, notably that of Coriolanus. Published in 1825, this extensive two-volume biography by James Boaden (1762–1839) was described by Sir Walter Scott as 'grave, critical, full and laudably accurate'.
