Joy in the Morning

Verna and Joy are two sisters. They are raised in a home with a non-caring mother and brutal stepfather. Their love for each other is their only strength. At 17, Verna leaves the home with the promise to return for Joy, who is 15. However, before Verna can return for Joy, Joy is forced out on the streets by abuse. Separated, young, and alone, their paths take them in opposite directions. Verna finds herself caught up in the harsh world of drugs, addiction, incarceration, and homelessness. Joy finds love and stability in an unexpected place. She is taken into the home of an elderly widow, Mama Mae. With the support of Mama Mae, Joy becomes a successful young woman with a strong desire to help those who have become entangled in the harsh world of addiction and hopelessness. She vows to never stop looking for her sister. But, can Joy accept the fact that her sister is a part of the lifestyle of addiction and hopelessness?
