Freedom Preferred to Security & The Lion and the Mouse

Ever since people started living together in larger communities social problems have arisen. The first story in this book is about one of the most basic choices we are faced with: between security (including food) and freedom. The second story is about the recurrent problem of the balance of power between individuals in society. These stories emerged in the early days of civilization and are as relevant today as they were two and a half thousand years ago.
