1917 It's been three years since the events related in Seven Stones, three years of death and destruction greater than humanity has ever witnessed. Europe is in the grip of war and chaos as man's greatest technological achievements are turned to the art of killing. A continent away, a draft dodger tries to lose himself in the wilderness of Northern Ontario. Far from civilization, he hopes to find peace from the visions he has seen, the insights that the Book of Ashavan is always willing to offer. But inexplicable violence even here at the edge of civilization soon teaches Doug Slattery that half a world away is not far enough, that the world is too small to escape what plagues mankind.
