From Cubby's perspective, 1968 pretty much sucked... And with two years to go before graduation, Cubby James and the group of close friends in the East Tennessee town of Lincoln, are just trying to get through it all. Along the way, they have to work through the problems they face, and make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. Struggling through the uncertainty of youth, AFTER ALL tells the story of teenagers in a small mountain town, dealing with the uncertainty and heartbreak of young love, the newly emerging drug culture, deciding who they can trust, and the moral choices that must be made between right and wrong. Set against the backdrop of national chaos of the late 1960's, AFTER ALL takes the reader back to a time when hard truths were realized, and innocence was lost. Continuing the narrative that began in the debut novel, WHEN FOREVER'S OVER, Cubby relates the story as the tight knit group of friends navigate their last years of high school, deal with each crisis as it arises in their lives, and make preparations to go out into the world. The questions they face appear unique to them and their time, but in reality are the same questions faced by all generations. AFTER ALL is a tour of the memories we all have tucked back in our minds, and revisits the wins and the losses each of us encounter in our lives, as we journey around the sun.
