Raina Lee, an academically inclined yet ironically apathetic high school student, was inching closer towards her graduation. Rather than entertaining grandiose thoughts about her future, she was always preoccupied with surviving the day. Each day weaved itself into an irregular rhythm in the context of her dysfunctional family and her introversion that evolved gradually into isolation. Each "today" was an unpredictable pulse from yesterday, and like an arrhythmic heart, she was unable to perfuse proper meaning into much of anything she did.

Before the end of her senior year, Raina will encounter and rediscover heartbeats--people--who will interrupt her familiar rhythm and in that chaos learn that the missing heartbeat needed to recalibrate her broken family was never really lost, only neglected.
