Decoding Mary

Mary started off as most little girls do-happy, creative, content. That all changes after the tragic loss of her father, turning her world is upside down. Uncle Rob quickly steps in to fill the shoes her father left but drags Mary down into a dark and terrible void of secrecy and lies. To protect herself, Mary creates an alternate reality-one where she feels safe and free-leaving the hard work of life to variations of her personality. Jerry, Kay, Janice, Barbara, and Dinah all take turns grabbing the wheel whenever Mary is triggered by his familiar scent, the red lipstick he gave her, and anything in between. Adapted into a novel from an original stage play, Decoding Mary, is the story of how one woman struggles to be heard, gain the victory over mental illness, and find the peace within herself to save her family.
