Special Agent Dylan Graves' mission to prevent the destruction of the starcruiser Excalibur in the past and change the outcome of the war against the expanding Veshtonn Empire in the future has proven to be even more challenging than he expected it to be. His presence has influenced past events in ways that he never intended, and some of those events have not played out at all as he had hoped they would. Having been forced to abandon his cover story and flee the Mars Orbital Shipyards, he thinks that he has finally put the threat of capture and exposure behind him-that he is finally free to pursue his mission without having to constantly watch his back. But as he continues to pursue his mission from the shadows, he soon finds himself a fugitive once more and eventually, against his better judgment, is forced to call on the one and only potential ally he can think of for help.
