The Power of God

There are over 200 verses in the Bible on the power of God. God's power can be seen in creation. God's power works in salvation. God's power is demonstrated in the battles of life. Faith is the connection to God's power. In the trinity of God's abilities is the fact that He is Omnipotent. Yet, the Church today has become extremely powerless as evidenced by her evangelism record, her philosophy of ministry, and her neglect of prayer. Jesus recognized these maladies in his own time on Earth. The preeminent Bible word for power, dunamis, is defined as "demonstrable strength that causes people to notice and be astonished." This is God's power alone. No man can muster this power. Yet, for the Christian, God's power already exists within the heart in the resident work of God's Holy Spirit.
