A man was shot and seriously wounded yesterday afternoon, in Harrow Road, West London. Police have named the man as DANNY BARRAT, of no fixed abode.' It couldn't be, could it? Surely not, not Danny Barratt the experienced CID officer with the world at his feet, an old-fashioned policeman who took his oath seriously and believed that no one was above the law, regardless of the stripes on his arm? But it is. Danny's dead, failed by the society he put his life on the line to protect, day in, day out. But what exactly happened between Danny's promising days at Hendon Police College as a gifted and endearing trainee and his violent and unnecessary death a few short years later?
