Despite growing up during the Great Depression and World War II, Stan Bourgeault had a happy childhood in Oakland, California. He could never have dreamed that his humble beginnings would lead to a life full of adventure and professional success.



Follow Stan from his earliest memories of the Bay Area during the war years, through his hedonistic adolescence, and to his discovery that life is more than just living for oneself.



Stan's adventures take him across the United States and around the world, from Rome and Paris to Lebanon and Cairo. Both his professional pursuits and family life grow and change, leading him to the last place he'd ever expect: a simple life in academia on the East Coast.
