Bitterroot is a tale of five generations that began in the eighteen-hundreds in Wales with an immigrant forefather that crossed the Atlantic in his late teens in midwinter and found work on the Erie Canal, first as a shovel boy and then as a hoagie. It was there that larceny was found in him and he fled into the Ohio River Valley. His proceeding generations migrated across the heartland and on westward into the Bitterroot Mountains of Montana. A story of the life and place that each generation chose the work of their hands, and of the women chosen for them. Ending in nineteen fifty-seven with the fifth generation being sent out on his right of passage. Bitterroot is a yarn fulfilling the promise of life.
