Plaque Control refers to all the measures taken by both the patient and dental team to prevent accumulation of bacterial plaque and other deposits on tooth adjacent gingival surface. Plaque control is one of the milestone of dentistry, without which, oral health can neither be attained, nor preserved. Thus, for healthy periodontium, plaque control means the preservation of health; for periodontal disease, it means optimal healing, following treatment; and last but not the least for the patient treated for periodontal disease; plaque control means the prevention of recurrence of disease.
