Impact of individualized follow-up on effective immunization coverage
Seraphin Petelo Nzolambi
Given the discrepancy between administrative and monitoring data and coverage surveys, simple but effective strategies for planning and monitoring immunization of children aged 0-11 months are needed to improve effective immunization coverage. This would improve the protection of children against vaccine-preventable diseases. It is within this framework that, after reflection on the results of an improved monitoring session for action that showed a low effective immunization coverage of 2%, a joint team from UNICEF Bandundu, the Provincial Management Team (PMT) of the Kwilu Provincial Division and the Provincial Coordinator of the Immunization Program, Dr. M. M. M., decided to set up a project to improve the immunization coverage of children aged 0-11 months. Provincial Coordinating Doctor of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI)-Health Zone Management Team (ECZS) of Bandundu conducted this comparative study to see the contribution of individualized monitoring of each EPI target from 0 to 11 months on the improvement of effective immunization coverage.
