Markus is the inevitable tragedy of a man who spends his life running from a monster only to find himself running into madness. The play follows the return of Markus to his birthplace after the removal of the authoritarian leader who forced him to run. The town he left fifteen years ago is nearly unrecognizable because of the tyrant's effects before and after her disappearance. Markus must cope with the lasting effects of his long-lived isolation and fear as he attempts to integrate back into a place still haunted by its past no different from him.
