"Amadeus," directed by Miloš Forman and based on Peter Shaffer's stage play, delves into the imagined intense rivalry between composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri in 18th-century Vienna. This cinematic masterpiece, released in 1984, brilliantly captures the tension between Mozart's raw genius and Salieri's consuming jealousy, which leads Salieri to plot against his rival. The film's portrayal of this rivalry is underscored by a rich selection of Mozart's compositions, enhancing the drama and historical ambience. "Amadeus" was lauded for its artistic execution, earning eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and it continues to be celebrated for its cultural and historical significance, having been preserved in the U.S. National Film Registry.
