Danny Kingston, a preacher's son and a well-liked honor student, has admired Serena Davidson, the popular, pretty, captain of the girls varsity volleyball team, since the first day of their freshman year in high school; but he could never summon the courage to speak to her, let alone ask her out. That is until their senior year, when Serena's grade in geography begins to plummet, threatening her position on the volleyball team.
