Restless Waters is a novel of political intrigue, mystery, and murder. The entire story takes place in the new wild state of Newmont, and there a unique gentle animal, through no fault of its own, finds itself hopelessly caught up in the human fray.

Grady Able, the owner of a small independent newspaper, is drawn inexorably into a story surrounding the death of a young woman. She had been on a mission to protect an endangered marine mammal, similar to a manatee, but not a manatee. Before long, Grady and his worthy assistant, Nuck, find themselves up against a very powerful person who makes it clear he wants Grady to drop his investigation. In the tradition of his father, though, Grady decides he cannot back down from the growing intimidation, threats, and violence that are hurled his way.

In the end, however, will he be able to hold up against the weight of it all, or will he ultimately be forced to drop his pursuit of the toxic story to protect himself and his family?

Restless Waters is a journey through the rot that can easily underlie any civil society, especially in a strange place like Newmont. Is the "free and independent" press really free anymore, or does big money control everything in such a place?
