The book focuses on four major areas for statistical comparison. Those areas are Possession, Attacking, Defense, and Discipline. Goalkeepers also get graded on goal keeping data. Of the major areas, each team is given three trend charts depicting team Possession, Scoring, and Defense. For Possession: Touches Completions Attempts Passing % Fwd Left Right Back Turnover Dispossessed For Attacking: Box Entries Goals Assists Second Assists Shots on Goal Shots on Goal Assists Shots For Defense: Tackles Won Duels Won Duels Lost Interceptions Recoveries Clearances Offside Traps For Discipline: Yellow Card Red Card Fouls Committed Fouls Suffered For Goal Keeping: Keeper Sweeper Saves Goals Allowed PK Attempts PK Saves The chapters are presented in order of how the teams finished at the conclusion of MLS Cup. The MLS Cup Champion Portland Timbers are the first team to be presented, followed by the runner up Columbus Crew. This book does not draw any conclusions nor does it try to predict the future. The purpose is to present the data and allow the readers to use it to draw their own conclusions.
