Discovering the Obvious begins with four short stories: The first story: In the middle of the 22nd century, the people of earth save themselves from a polluted world full of pain and suffering. The world is changed under the leadership of The New Administration. The story is narrated by a 2700 year-old woman in the 6th millennium.

The second story is told by an entity named Teller 
who had a role in creating our universe and 
is giving some history, recognition and advice to human beings. 

In the third story, a person dies and goes to hell. 

The last story tells how a person loses his religious faith.

Then comes an essay about identity and the 
possibility of personal fulfillment. 

The next chapter is composed of questions a person might ask 
when trying to find more truth and meaning.

The last chapter is composed of advice picked up over a lifetime 
and a few rants for good measure.
