Christina Lyon was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and grew up in southern England. Her father, a brilliant concert pianist of Polish descent whose mysterious past left him hardened and embittered, caused Christina to flee home as a young woman. Years later, upon his death Christina's father bequeathed to her his secret journals, a compilation of scratched diary entries and memoirs disclosing the details of his past as a spy in postwar Poland. Christina, taken aback by the revelation, was determined to chronicle the life of the father that she apparently never knew. Christina's discovery and writing about her father leads her back to the country of her birth, where she meets Robert MacFarlane - the strong, seductive, and unattainable Scottish King - who upon first sight sets Christina's head spinning. But the usual love story does not ensue. The pair's path together is fraught with peril, as Christina's activities pertaining to her father and his dangerous past captures the attention of a diabolical man called Zielinski, a man hell bent on suppressing the incriminating information contained in her father's journals. Deterred by Zielinski and his demonic acolytes, Christina once again flees home. The Scottish King follows and soon thereafter their passion for one another reaches full boil. But the boil rests to a simmer almost immediately, as MacFarlane must return to his homeland where he is betrothed to another. Zielinski, however, is far more persistent, more so than Christina ever feared possible. To her peril, Zielinski's demons hunt her down and violate her in a perverse but failed murder attempt. Recovering, Christina's fianc¿, David, deserts her by breaking off their engagement. But the Scottish King, upon news of the attack, returns to Christina and guards her through what would be her final altercation with Zielinski...
