This novel contrasts the issues of obedience vs. disobedience to the divine will of God and the consequences of man's actions, depending on the path they choose to trod. It brings out the fact that there is a constant war raging within a man's soul pulling against the desire to do good versus the desire to commit evil acts. Isaiah 1:19-20 tells us that "if ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land; but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. In many instances, these light afflictions are a result and testimony to the disobedience of God's will. When our walk does not keep pace with God's instructions, every area of our lives are affected in negative ways. In addition, this novel addresses the hurtful issues encountered by Christians as they embark on a life-time journey of learning to walk in obedience to the commands of Christ. In doing good, Christians often encounter disappointment, malice, and evil deeds from other professing Christians. These encounters can thwart a Christian's growth unless they understand who is really attacking them. Ultimately, each soul must come to the understanding that it is only through Christ can a soul be delivered from any affliction brought on by the spirits of darkness. This novel is a book of hope and encouragement that no matter the affliction, God stands ready and willing to administer healing and deliverance to set a captive soul free. He can turn your light afflictions into a well of joy that springs up to bring about a sense of peace that surpasses your minute understanding in every area of your life.
