Charles Romyn Dake was a 19th-century American writer. The only work published by Dake is A Strange Discovery which is a sequel to Edgar Allan Poe's "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket" which tells the story of young Arthur Gordon Pym who stows away aboard a whaling ship called Grampus. Various adventures and misadventures befall Pym including shipwreck, mutiny, and cannibalism before he is saved by the crew of the Jane Guy. A Strange Discovery takes up his story and is narrated by Doctor Bainbridge who recounts the story his patient Dirk Peters told him of his journey with Gordon Pym in Antarctica, including a discussion of Poe's poem "The Raven".
