Robert Alten is having a breakdown. After twelve happy years of marriage, he awakens to find his wife is leaving him, and she's taking their son with her. With a gaping hole in his world, Robert is left despondent. Faced with an increasingly ugly divorce, Robert seeks any distraction from the crushing reality that life, as he knew it, is ending. Before long, his sleep becomes plagued by recurring nightmares, and he soon finds himself stalked at his remote lake house by a psychotic drifter hauntingly similar to the one in his dreams.
