"Why?" My voice was a broken whimper. "Why are you doing this?" I felt like I was standing in front of a complete stranger. I knew that I was crying "Please," I begged. "I can't lose you too." Jake looked right past me. It seemed so easy for him. If a heart could burn as it shriveled into nonexistence, it wouldn't possibly hurt as much as this. It took a moment before I could breathe again. Somehow I walked away. Away from him, away from her, and away from the life I thought belonged to me.
