Publisher Marketing: Grey Darrow was six when her sister drowned in the Oregon surf. Her mother melts to death in grief, but Grey and her father move to a small town north of Spokane, Washington. At thirty, Grey is still hunting for hope, something that will rescue her from sadness. Even with a college degree, Grey has mellowed into the doldrums as an aide in the city library, walking back and forth to work up the hill to her apartment: no activities, no circle of friends, no meaningful future to spark her spirit. Life changes drastically for Grey when a local band of losers target her for harassment. Grey is unexpectedly involved in the city drug trade, unaware her life is in danger. To please her father, Grey signs up for an art class at Eastern Washington University, only to fall deeper into harm's way, except for a certain professor who sees a light to kindle in Grey's heart. The more Grey learns about the lack of direction between an education and a job, the more she is ignited to make a difference. Perhaps she will secure a grant or write a book. If it wasn't for her sister's love, a crazy old woman with a parrot, and an unforeseen romance, Grey might have perished forever. What will it take for Grey to "bridge the gap" into love and purpose?
