This is a story about professional burn-out, drug use and confronting ghosts from the past. The lines between reality and hallucination are at times blurred, and the use of psychedelic drugs is described in a vivid and titillating manner, bringing a taboo subject into the mainstream. The novel is predominantly set in British Columbia, both in the present and in the 1990's. There are many books which attempt to "capture the spirit of the 80's, 70's, 60's," etc., this book captures the spirit of the 1990's. Vancouver is brought to life, both then and now.
