Raised by a solidly working class fisherman, Luke is a broke and brilliant artist who has yet to get his big break. His gifts attract the attention of a wealthy benefactor, Blake Nottingham, whose own fascination with Dalilah leads him to commission Luke to present him with a painting of her. As Luke and Dalilah's professional relationship gradually leads to love, Dalilah finds herself playing a dangerous game of deceit. Her motivation is to help Luke gain a platform for his work, so she attempts to manipulate Nottingham into giving him this. But when the manipulated becomes the manipulator, Dalilah finds that she has gone too far.
