However, future generations of Denaby's found the cut-and-thrust of commerce extremely challenging, some of their decisions putting at risk the empire that Nathan Denaby had built almost single-handed. Spanning the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries the story revolves around the challenges facing the Yorkshire family and their struggle to maintain the traditions and values set by Nathan.
