He's been to University but now he's down on his luck. Unemployed, car dead and shortly, no place to live. This is how Chris finds himself at the beginning of the story. While he is sitting having coffee with a friend, a CD lands at his feet, ejected from a boom box by a ghostly red hand during a fatal accident, played out in front of them. He picks it up unsuspectingly. Later Chris plays the introductory song and the one following it. As the song ends, the phone rings and the cultured voice on the other end instructs Chris to get ready for a job interview. The job is his. Another song played results in an apartment coming his way. Yet another song played and Chris suddenly acquires the car of his dreams. The first five songs are most generous to Chris as all his prayers are answered and he's on top of the world. However, human nature being what it is; when is enough, enough? He starts to play the rest of the CD and life changes. What Chris doesn't know is that Satan and his demon children have moved into the twenty first century and the Devil's contracts are no longer thousand page documents. A CD could be all it takes for the Devil to capture your soul but watch out for the Final Song. Not meant to be a literary masterpiece, not quite a horror story and not really serious. More like fantasy with bite; 'The Final Song' is a fast and wicked romp through the world of human foibles, demons, death and a new way of collecting souls. After all, Armageddon is coming and the Devil definitely needs more soldiers.
