Laura Tipton had always felt close to her uncle, Todd Pendleton, but she never expected to inherit his vast holdings on Puget Sound. She left her son with his grandmother, and prepared to fly to Washington, sign some papers and make arrangements to rent or sell the property. When she made the trip to the Pacific Northwest from her home in California, nothing could have prepared her for the mystery which gripped her almost immediately after her arrival. She loved seeing the country which had captivated her uncle, and his house felt like it was built with her in mind. But, an easy transfer of property was not to be. She was not prepared for the evil which lurked in the heart of Uncle Todd's son, Rob, and his cronies. Laura had assumed that Rob was no longer living, but in reality Todd had disowned him years earlier. Rob was bent on Laura's destruction. His hatred knew no bounds, and it was fortunate for him that there were other, powerful men who shared his desire to obliterate Laura. After being divorced from an abusive husband, she had spent five years raising her son, Peter, with no thought of romance. She was pleasantly surprised to meet two men who tried to capture her heart. She began to believe that a new life was possible for her and her son. But, around every corner, danger lurked, threatening not only her dreams and her life, but Peter's life as well. Relationships that began years before Laura was born began to work their way into her life. A trip that had begun as a dream became a nightmare, a nightmare from which she could not escape.
