The deceit is a gangster story that travels from the valleys of Wales, to the East End of London. Jake was born while his father was in prison, and his father, a brutal bully, who would often beat his wife and children while in drunken stupors refused to accept the child as his own. Jake would grow to become involved with an East End gangster, who befriended him, before using him and then framing him for crimes that never committed. The deceit is a story of blackmail, bribery, police corruption, violence, murder and sex with so many twists that it will have you wondering right up to last chapter.
