As a debut poetry collection, this is a series of poems that reflect on the growing-up experience. In our twenties, often, we are expected to have it all together, but sometimes that is easier said than done. What outlet do you use to cope until you get there? Poetry that forces a young woman out of her comfort zone and relationship after relationship that teaches her about adulthood and motherhood. The poems are at times optimistic and at other times heartbreaking. The introductory poem reflects on a childhood where it seems impossible to spot any measure of hopefulness amid addiction because, in the beginning, the high feels too good.
