Every child asks "where do I come from?" That is the universal question. For the first time, 'The Misconception Files' highlights the pivotal but erroneous conviction of patriarchy: there is no mother. Of course, a woman carries the child and gives birth but the source of that child, the seed of life, was believed to come from the man alone. That made her the oven for his buns - and the children belonged to him. With this mis-conception, patriarchy seemed logical and became inevitable. Science overturned the male-seed theory of reproduction around the turn of the 20th century. Yet, this profound change in thinking is practically unknown - even though nothing is more important than the source of life. The pre-ovum, male-seed, notion of life was the mortar that held the components of the oppressive tower of patriarchy in place. But until we recognise that, we cannot truly understand how patriarchy came about, and continued, and is destined to collapse. When looking at contemporary societies, history, and prehistory, with 'the facts of life' in mind, a whole new understanding emerges, shattering a plethora of false notions about men and women.
