Earth Mark Rigsby

Nigel Coppers was the first human on Earth to evolve to a new existence in quantum space. He became a duality, existing as both a physical and quantum being. This new existence allowed him to have a profound impact on humanity. He was the catalyst that transitioned humanity beyond dictatorships and government controls to one that allowed complete freedom and free enterprise. This new freedom, combined with the sharing of the newly discovered extensions to the laws of physics in which he existed, opened a new frontier. Technology began to grow at astronomical rates. In 2017, it was expected that the growth in technology over the following one hundred years would result in 100 years of continued progress at the near exponential rates that had been experienced in the previous 100 years. But that was not the case. The technological return would exceed that projected pace an even greater scale, at over 5,000 years of progress. This resulted in measured technology improvements in areas such as chip speed and design, energy efficiency, control over disease and aging and all other technological areas to be improved at scales approaching exponential growth in exponential growth. There were very real concerns that machine intelligence would completely surpass and potentially replace human intelligence. This concern was only alleviated when that same machine intelligence was used to biologically supplement human intelligence. Without this monumental change to integrate new technologies with humans, the technological change could have been so rapid and so profound that it would have very likely resulted in the simple obsolescence of humanity. The implications were enormous. But the merger of biological and non-biological intelligence resulted in ultra-high levels of human intelligence. And, that intelligence continued to be in complete human control. Humanity was making astronomical new discoveries. But there was so much more to discover. The secrets of the universe were extensive. Mankind was still alone in its universe until a new very old, advanced and paranoid race threatened it existence. Earth was challenged to use its technological and intellectual prowess to defeat a threat that could only be removed with the complete annihilation of the threatening aliens.
