Sometimes social norms and expectations put us on a path we aren't fully committed to. This leads to self-doubt, frustrations, and disillusionment. In fact, 53 percent of Americans are unhappy with their current job; too scared to leave and explore something more fulfilling. Throwing Darts is a collection of stories of purposefully unnamed people (celebrities and average Joes) who left stable paths to pursue what spoke to them on a deeper level. For example, an unnamed celebrity turned down a secure job in the financial industry to pursue a passion for comedic acting. These empowering stories are paired with psychological findings explaining why humans tend to make certain decisions and why social norms become such. Author, Kayla Stacy was in a similar situation while in college. After some soul searching, she decided to go off course and follow her dreams. She hopes Throwing Darts will give people the push they need to create and live by their own rules in order to do the same.
