A mysterious alien race offers Pellan Langliv, a government assassin, a trip to the center of the galaxy aboard the fastest ship ever built. She decides to go after being shown an artifact foretelling her future. During the trip, two crew members become murderous zombie-maniacs after being bombarded with engine radiation. Pellan must deal with the problem with her bare hands, almost losing her life in the process. At the center of the galaxy, the crew discovers a space station/time machine positioned between two colossal black holes and a clouded planet imprisoning a female reptilian telepath. She is responsible for the extinction of the entire reptilian race, hence her incarceration. She wants to escape and destroy the galaxy. On the space station is another reptilian caught in a repeating time loop. He needs Pellan's help to go back to alter his ancestors' evolution, ensuring his own creation.
