When her next door neighbour Sam is abducted by fairies, Kate, the eldest of four witches who were orphaned when their parents fell foul of the same fairies, determines to rescue him. Gathering together a group of her magical friends they set off to steal him back from his captors. The story develops some strange twists, and they find themselves drawn into all sorts of adventures before they reach its conclusion. Even then, there is a mystery to solve, with which they will have to deal in the next volume.
