It began with a family in the Midwest where the Wabash River was the dividing line between the civilized west and the wilderness to the east. The Daniels family had come from Virginia and settled in the small village of Montezuma, Indiana several years earlier. One of the men had four sons and a daughter. One of those sons, Joe R. Daniels, had two sons and a daughter. The youngest of these sons was named Donald Scott Daniels.
