Down Island
Ames K Swartsfager
Read the log of the Sailing Ketch Butterfly and the memories of her Captain, Ames K. Swartsfager. But the log does not really spin the yarn. The real story is locked in that dusty lazaret of the captain's mind: the sight of a ghost fleet setting sail, the "vision" swimming off another boat, voices calling in the night during a storm, the wrestler turned cab driver in Venezuela, the appearance of strange lights in the water, the arrival of winged visitors, and the dark fears and anxieties while sailing offshore. Hop aboard and come sail with Butterfly Down Island.
