This book outlines a comprehensive sociological perspective based on a synthesis of the ideas of George Herbert Mead and Max Weber. The aim of this work is to extend symbolic interaction, a principal approach to sociology that is often thought to be limited to social-psychological issues, to the full range of social phenomena. In this endeavor, Dr. Morris addresses both theoretical and methodological concerns. It is the author's suggestion that both Mead and Weber should be viewed as more radical in their theories than they commonly are.
