The Library Bird
Beverly Bramlett Fortner
Jimmie Crane is a sandhill crane who becomes the library bird after her girls leave home. She enriches the lives of many children as she goes to the local pond each day to read to the youngsters there. The story is written to honor the memory of a dear library aide whose name was Jimmie Crain. For twenty years she was "The Library Bird" for children. She loved and was loved by children and adults alike. She was my friend.
