US Marshal Clay McLane and Pinkerton Agent Dunk Bledsoe, both undercover, join Clint and his men, posing as cowboys, to uncover evidence of the stolen gold at Gerald Dunlap's ranch without bringing danger to anyone. Gerald tried to impress Elizabeth, thinking she was too beautiful and refined to be a rancher's wife, but when rebuffed by Elizabeth, he decided that if he could eliminate Clint, she would come to him more willingly.
