This is the sequel to Last Laugh with the continuation of the story surrounding Iris Rose McGraw and Tommy Moore, along with the other supporting characters--Phoebe McGraw, Mason Moore, Alana Moore, Warren Applebee and Bertha. Iris sacrifices all that she has ever known to be with Tommy. She puts her future in his hands and hopes that he will live up to the expectations that her passionate attraction to him warrants. Starting out their marriage on the orchards of Laurelcrest, Iris desperately tries to reconcile with her mother as well as build bridges with Tommy's family. His relationship with his father, however, always proves to be intractable until one critical night in early April that changes everything. As the saying goes: "Only when the last piece is found will a puzzle be complete."
