New York City transplant, Trevor Porter, returns home to Becton, Texas, after a thirteen-year absence only to find it decimated by an unknown illness. As the sick wait to join the growing pile of dead bodies, the survivors blame him for the outbreak. But why? He discovers an unknown son whose birth heralded the arrival of the poison infecting the small town.
