What the pyrotechnician Jackson and the editor Paula really like about each other is that they both behave naturally, unobtrusively, and retiringly. The photographer Nick, on friendly terms with both of them, likes Paula, too. That's why Nick tries to entice both Jackson and Paula to transform their appearance radically by engaging in some false rumor-mongering: thus he encourages Jackson to strive for a macho look and for Paula to become a vamp. Will this bring Nick the success he wants?
