This book is based on a young girl named Sasha and how her life changed once she moved to Virginia. Sasha was born and raised in Guyana with her mother, Leah, and her brothers and sister. She then moved to Virginia to live with her father, Arthur. Sasha wanted to get away from the hard life in Guyana, so when the opportunity presented itself for her to live with her father in the state, she jumped on it with no hesitation, unlike her brotherhe did not want to leave their mother. Because Sasha chose to leave, her mother had some ill feelings toward her. Once you read this book, youll gain a better understanding about Sashas life and the reason she wanted to leave Guyana. Sasha had dreams, and she knew in her heart if she stayed with her mother, Leah, she would have to accept those dreams would never come true, and she didnt want that to happen.
