Inspector James Macpherson has been sent on a mission to investigate a murder in a small community in the western part of Virginia. The year is 1785. The murder was not just any murder, but a poisoning. Upon his arrival, two more murders occur within the space of a month. Inspector Macpherson enlists the aid of a fellow Highlander Scot, Morgana Mackenzie. She is a healer and very knowledgeable of the herbs and their benefits and their dangers. Soon she is assisting the Inspector in all aspects of his investigation and his life. Someone must be selected to bait the trap to end the murderous spree. Who will be the next victim?
